چکیده

This research has demonstrated that simple structural and potential models can qualitatively and quantitatively predict properties in dense hydrothermal solutions of sodium chloride and water using molecular dynamics simulation. The PTFxi behavior of simulated model systems at 250 bar and 21 wt % NaCl compared favorably to experimental data from ambient to near-critical temperatures as represented by the Anderko-Pitzer equation of state. The system internal energy, including both dispersion and electrostatic contributions, was computed for a range of temperatures from 177 to 727 °C at 250 bar and found to be realistic in terms of the known thermodynamic properties of water. Radial distribution functions indicate little change in water structure from ambient to near-critical temperatures but large changes in ion association consistent with experimental observation. We found that varying system pressure from 250 to 1000 bar does not noticeably affect solution structure or ion association at subcritical conditions.

Ion association in concentrated NaCI brines from ambient to supercritical conditions: results from classical molecular dynamics simulations

Highly concentrated NaCl brines are important geothermal fluids; chloride complexation of metals in such brines increases the solubility of minerals and plays a fundamental role in the genesis of hydrothermal ore deposits. There is experimental evidence that the molecular nature of the NaCl–water system changes over the pressure–temperature range of the Earth’s crust. A transition of concentrat...

A New Tri-Parametrical Law of Corresponding States for Subcritical Dense Fluids

This article introduces a new tri-parameter law of corresponding states from the known regularities, namely the LIR and Zeno line for dense fluids (when Tz=Tc). Two of these parameters are the Zeno line parameters and the third parameter (the fluid parameter), has been obtained from the LIR, this parameter is solely dependent upon the fluid characteristics. The third parameter ca...

Structural characterization of eutectic aqueous NaCl solutions under variable temperature and pressure conditions.

The structure of amorphous NaCl solutions produced by fast quenching is studied as a function of pressure, up to 4 GPa, by combined neutron diffraction experiments and classical molecular dynamics simulations. Similarly to LiCl solutions the system amorphizes at ambient pressure in a dense phase structurally similar to the e-HDA phase in pure water. The measurement of the static structure facto...

Batch and continuous hydrothermal synthesis of LiFePO4 micro- and nanoparticles

Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) is a promising cathode material for lithium ion batteries because it can be synthesized from low cost starting materials, it is relatively non-toxic (compared with LiCoO2 or LiNiO2), and because it is intrinsically stable at potentials greater than 3.45 V [1]. The solidstate synthesis of LiFePO4 has therefore received much attention. However, this process is cos...

Hydrothermal synthesis nanoparticle bysupercritical fluid

Supercritical fluid (SCF) technology has become an important tool of materials processing in the lasttwo decades. Supercritical CO2 and H2O are extensively being used in the preparation of a great variety ofnanomaterials. The greatest requirement in the application of nanomaterials is its size and morphology control, which determine the application potential of the nanoparticles, as...
